Job Description

PayPal Risk Product Development team is looking for a talented and highly motivated Software Engineer to join the team. The ideal candidate is a self starter and self motivated individual with strong analytical skills, commitment to quality, positive work ethic, a "can do" attitude and with cutting edge technical skills. The prospective candidate will be working with a group of world class engineers and will be designing and building cutting edge innovative solutions to mitigate fraud on PayPal! Help us minimize Risk for PayPal and its users and combat Fraudsters as we add new financial instruments and systems, and build out our Risk infrastructure for the future. 
 
Primary Job Responsibilities:
 
·         Working closely with Product Management and Business, to review product requirements, drive high level and detail designs.
·         Driving high-level and detailed technical design documents, and active participation in design reviews.
·         Coding highly available, testable, scalable, monitorable components using C++ and SQL in an Apache/Linux environment. Includes new features and maintenance and enhancement of exiting features.
·         Conduct design and code reviews.
·         Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources.
·         Work with various cross functional teams like Risk QA, Risk PM to effectively deliver business solutions.
·         Provide on call support during releases and for resolving production issues on a rotation basis.

Job Qualifications

BSEE, CS or other relevant technical degree required.
 
8+ years professional related experience or Master’s Degree and 6+ years, or Doctorate and 4+ years
·         Experience building high volume, consumer facing, web applications.
·         Expert knowledge developing and debugging in C++ on Unix. Java skills a big plus.
·         Expert knowledge with working on Relational Databases(RDBMS), SQL. Knowledge of Oracle 10g preferred.
·         Understanding of and experience with OOA & OOP practices, UML is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are a positive due to dynamic nature of discussions with other engineering and product teams.
·         Familiarity with Clearcase & Clearquest preferred.
·         Prior knowledge of Risk Management and Fraud Detection technologies in the Payments industry a plus.
