Primary Job Responsibilities:
Experienced software engineer to provide technical leadership in solution design, development, and implementation of PegaSystems customer service applications for the PayPal Global Customer Operations team.
Responsibilities include:
Driving high-level and detailed technical design documents, and active participation in design reviews.
Playing an active role in implementing and providing feedback on architectural and implementation enhancements.
Providing technical guidance to other software engineers.
Implementing new customer operations system components.
Perform technical evaluations of third party solutions.
Rapid prototyping to demonstrate possible solutions.
Maintenance and enhancement of existing customer operations system components
Playing an active role in team and companywide architecture discussions
Employ technical expertise in helping team members overcome technical problems
Adhere to release/project schedule and milestones.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of relevant web protocols. Commitment to highly available and platform independent software is required.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science is required and MSCS preferred.
8+ years professional related experience or Master's Degree and 6+ years, or Doctorate and 4+ years
Experience building systems using Services Oriented Architecture and Web Services.
Experience building or implementing BPM or Rules-Based Workflow systems.
Expert level Java/ C++ skills.
Job Requirements
Experience building systems using Services Oriented Architecture and Web Services.
Successful development and implementation experience with high-performance, enterprise-grade customer service or call center product applications. PegaSystems Certification or experience a definite plus.
Expert level Java/ C++ skills are required with demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems. Java Certification a plus.
Expert level skills working with XML frameworks are required.
Knowledge of Oracle RDBMS performance tuning and query optimization or other large commercial databases.
Knowledge of automated unit and system test strategies and frameworks.
Familiarity with Clearcase & Clearquest preferred.
Strong understanding and command of OOA & OOP practices, UML is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are a positive due to dynamic nature of discussions with other engineering and product teams.
