The Business Analytics team delivers high-impact, data-driven business insights, recommendations and metrics to PayPal’s executive team. This team reports into the Vice President of Customer Advocacy & Operational Excellence and typically works on projects sponsored by PayPal’s President and his direct reports.
The team’s goal is to help maximize the growth and value of the PayPal business through rigorous and intelligent applications of data and analytics. We closely collaborate and drive for alignment with executive decision-makers, Strategy, Finance, the Information Management and Delivery group, and analytical teams throughout the company.
We are currently seeking a Manager to join the team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead analytics projects by translating business questions/problems into structured analyses
Identify actionable insights and recommendations
Effectively communicate results to executives and cross functional groups
Collaborate with PayPal’s Strategy, Finance, Information Management and Delivery, and partner Analytics teams throughout the company to ensure alignment on metrics and analytical methodologies and to minimize duplication of efforts
Execute zero-defect analysis

Job Qualifications

World-class analytics and problem-solving capabilities required
Solid communication skills, including ability to explain complex analytics to executive audience
Strong ability to extract actionable insights from massive, highly complex, multi-dimensional datasets
Mental flexibility, including ability to dive very deep into details of the data (e.g., to ensure data quality) but also ability to see the big picture and take smart shortcuts where appropriate
A passion for problem-solving, comfort with ambiguity, and creativity
High energy, strong work ethic, willingness to do “whatever it takes” to get to the results
Team player attitude, partnering, and collaboration skills
Technical requirements
Experience analyzing very large, complex, multi-dimensional data sets
Expert knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
Knowledge of data extraction, data mining and statistical analysis tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, SPSS) a plus
Education / work experience requirements
MBA or other relevant Masters degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Econometrics, Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, or Mathematics required
Experience with analyzing customer data in financial services, Internet, or a top-tier consumer-focused company (in technology, consumer goods or retail domain) a plus
2+ years experience in top-tier consulting firm, venture capital, or investment banking a plus
Highest demonstrated performance at all professional and educational career stages expected
