Job Description

In order to maintain that leadership position, PayPal engages in a variety of Business Development activities, partnerships, alliances, and acquisitions. This role will report to the Director of Business Analytics and work with the PayPal Business Development team on market assessment, deal modeling, and business analytics.  
 
We are currently seeking a Manager to join the team.
 
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead analytics projects by translating business questions/problems into structured analyses
  • Develop models to assess financial impact of new business development deals and assist in negotiation process
  • Effectively communicate results to executives and cross functional groups
Collaborate cross functionally with PayPal’s Business Development, Strategy, Finance, and Risk teams throughout the company to ensure alignment

Job Qualifications

General requirements

  • Strong quantitative reasoning skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to model difficult-to-quantify business agreements
  • Familiarity with eCommerce, Mobile Payments, and/or Application Developer Networks
  • Solid communication skills, including ability to explain complex analytics to business partners
  • A passion for problem-solving, comfort with ambiguity, and creativity
  • High energy, strong work ethic, willingness to do “whatever it takes” to get to the results
  • Team player attitude, partnering, and collaboration skills
 
Technical requirements

  • Expert knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of data extraction, data mining and statistical analysis tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, SPSS) a plus
 
 
Education / work experience requirements

  • Highest demonstrated performance at all professional and educational career stages expected
  • 2+ years experience in top-tier consulting firm, venture capital, or investment banking a plus
  • MBA or other relevant Masters degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Econometrics, Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, or Mathematics a plus
  • Experience with business development analysis for financial services, Internet, or a top-tier consumer-focused company (in technology, consumer goods or retail domain) a plus
