Job Description
The Search Analytics team is responsible for providing analytic support for the eBay Global Search Team, the product team responsible for improving the search experience on eBay. The analytics team supports the Global Search team in several key initiatives.
We are currently looking for an Associate Manager, Search Analytics to join the team. This individual will utilize his / her exceptional analytic skills and strong presentation skills to evaluate product concepts, measure the performance of existing products, and work cross-functionally to prepare reports for ongoing monitoring. On a day-to-day basis, this individual will partner with product management to help with their analytic needs. This person will generate insights by conducting extensive analyses of eBay’s rich data. In the process, this person will develop a deep understanding of the Marketplaces businesses and eBay site functionality, further strengthen their analytic, leadership, and presentation skills, and gain exposure to a wide variety of functional teams within eBay.
The overall responsibility will be to monitor the performance of the Search Business – this includes Search Results, Navigation, and Search Excellence – and to provide analytical support to our business partners during site testing and product launches. Specifically this will involve:
Designing and executing analyses using a range of tools, including:
Internally-developed simulation tools
Database analysis
Personal experience using eBay.com
Analyzing the business impact of changes to the eBay.com site with regard to various site usage and performance metrics
Gathering business insights from the results of A/B testing
Building forecast models to predict effects of site changes
Packaging and communicating findings to product management and the broader analytics team
Partnering with Product Management to evaluate the business case of new site features prior to product launch
Utilizing creative thinking, business acumen, and data-driven insight to design future tests
Job Qualifications

Exceptional data mining and quantitative analytic ability. Hands-on data analytics experience is a must.
Strong academic profile with an emphasis on quantitative coursework (e.g., degree in Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Econometrics or Engineering).
Expert Excel / Access / PowerPoint skills, expertise with database query tools (SQL), and a basic understanding of data warehouse architecture are required. Proficiency with statistical analysis tools (e.g., SAS, SPSS) is a plus.
Experience in product / web analytics is strongly preferred.
5+ years of experience, ideally at a leading management consulting firm, investment bank, or financial services company.
Strong interpersonal skills including ability to present insights and recommendations persuasively. Skill and confidence in dealing with people at all levels of the organization are essential.
